Materials List For Oil Painters

For artists wishing to be introduced to painting plein air and are invested in acrylics, watercolor or pastels you are welcome to join the class and use your medium however the instruction is not geared to your medium and may have some gaps in what you need to know.

Your choice of small size gessoed masonite, canvas or linen panel. 6 x 8 up to a 9 x 12. I prefer 8 x 10 size for those starting out. Bring 2-3 if your a fast painter. Something to carry the wet paintings home in.

Small sketch book - 8.5” x 5.5” spiral bound.

Fine tip black Sharpie marker or Faber Castell brush tip PITT artist pens in black, cold gray VI, and cold gray III Assortment of bristle brushes suitable for oil paint. Sizes 2,4,6. Brights and filberts plus a few small 1 or 2 sable round brush. Small palette knife for mixing paint

A portable field easel and tripod (Soltek, EasyL, ZBox, Julian French, Strada, etc.)

Portable palette.

Clip on to palette dipper container with two dippers or a mini brush washer on a hook.

Oil Paints - see colors list.

Viewfinder,

Thinner (Gamblin Gamsol, Mona Lisa, Odorless Turpenoid) No turpentine to be used in this class please. Container to carry used thinners home in. 

Roll of paper towels, Hand cleaning wipes,

Small plastic bag for garbage.

Apron and latex gloves are optional.

Backpack and or carry tote to store art supplies.
