Back in the early 1980s, James Goldthorpe bought a piece of property forlorn and over grown with weeds, 6 miles south of Galena. He knew after critical inspection that with experience, finances, and backbreaking sweat equity, he could one day have a magnificent country inn. He worked hard and long, and today that property is known as "The Goldmoor Inn". Towering high on a bluff, overlooking the mighty Mississippi River, The Goldmoor Inn encompasses a view you can only dream about.
Starting with only two rooms for lodging, The Goldmoor Inn has expanded its accommodations, which now include three beautiful Cottages, two authentic Log Cabins, and twelve luxurious Suites. A climate-controlled gazebo for small, intimate gatherings, and a large, covered pavilion with picturesque landscaping, is available for weddings, reunions, and parties, now completing The Goldmoor Inn.
The current Innkeepers, Patricia and Tom Smith, and The Goldmoor staff, continue the excellent work that The Goldmoor Inn has become known for, truly believing they have been "trained by the best".
